You depart Fes around 08:00 and travel toward Merzouga. Your first destination is the little Switzerland of Morocco, Ifrane. After a cup of coffee, you have the chance to watch the Barbary apes in the cedar forest of Azrou. From there you drive over the Middle Atlas to Midelt (the apple capital of Morocco), where you can have lunch.
You continue over the Tizi n’Talghemt pass and along the Ziz Valley, an oasis full of palm trees and small villages, with many stops along the way. You reach Merzouga in the afternoon, where your camels take you across the Erg Chebbi dunes to your desert camp, with an orange sunset from a high dune. After dinner, sit around a campfire enjoying Berber music under a starlit sky.

Today it’s highly recommended to wake early to catch a glorious sunrise. After breakfast at your camp, you leave for Rissani, the foundation of the current ruling family, where you can discover a traditional Moroccan market if it’s a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday).
You then travel back to Fes via Erfoud and along the Ziz Valley again, with your Fes desert trip ending as you’re dropped off at your accommodation in Fes.
