You drive to the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco and the 7th largest in the world, then head to Rabat to explore the Hassan Tower and visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.

After lunch in Rabat, you head to Fes, where you can have dinner in the Medina and sleep in a beautiful riad.

After breakfast you leave Fes for the Merzouga desert. Your first stop is Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco, then you cross the Middle Atlas, pausing in a cedar forest to watch rare Barbary macaques. Lunch is at a restaurant along the way, then you continue to the desert via the Tizi n’Talghamt and along the Ziz Valley.

You reach Merzouga in the late afternoon, where camels take you across the Sahara to your desert camp, stopping on a high dune for the sunset. You’re greeted with tea and relax in your private tent before dinner, then gather round a campfire for Berber music beneath a starry sky.

Driving: approximately 500 km, ~7 hr 30 min · Overnight: Luxury desert camp, Merzouga

An early wake-up is highly recommended to watch the golden light fill the scene. After breakfast you leave by camel or 4×4. If it’s a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, you can visit a traditional Moroccan souk in Rissani.

Then you drive to Tinghir, stopping at a panoramic view over palm trees and Berber villages, and continue along the Todra river to the deep Todra Canyon, with a walk beneath its 300-metre cliffs. Afterwards you drive to the Dades Gorges, an area rich in sediments, with a panoramic view of a snaking road before heading to your hotel.

Driving: approximately 310 km, ~5 hr · Overnight: Hotel in the Dades Gorges

After breakfast you begin the journey to Marrakech, driving first to Ouarzazate via Kalaat M’Gouna, known for its valley full of roses in spring. In Ouarzazate you can visit Atlas Studios (optional). Next you drive to the ancient Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, setting for films such as Prince of Persia, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator, and the city of Yunkai in Game of Thrones.
