Escape the vibrant city of Marrakech on our Marrakech Desert Tour 3 Days. In under three days you’ll be captivated by the Sahara, with its enchanting sunsets and sunrises. On this private 3-day desert tour from Marrakech you ride camels through the striking Erg Chebbi sand dunes and sleep under a starry desert sky in a luxury camp. You can also join a small shared group of up to 10 participants for an intimate, authentic experience: although transport is shared, your comfort and privacy remain a priority, with a private room in a charming Dades Valley hotel and a private tent in a luxury desert camp. Price starts at €150.
Your tour begins with an 8:00 am pick-up from your riad or wherever you are in Marrakech. Leaving the city, you journey through the High Atlas Mountains to the Tizi n’Tichka pass, 2,260 metres above sea level, with stops to see lovely Berber villages along the way.
You then visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an old fortified village known for its unique Moroccan architecture and used in many famous films including Kingdom of Heaven, Babel, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. After a tasty lunch, you head south along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to the Dades Valley, passing Ouarzazate, Skoura, and the Valley of Roses in Kalaat M’Gouna. Reaching the Dades Valley in the afternoon, you visit the rock formations known as the “monkey fingers”.

The second day starts with a tasty breakfast, then you head to Tinghir, stopping at a scenic spot with views of Berber villages and a palm-filled oasis. Nearby is the 300-metre-high Todra Gorge, which you walk beneath before continuing to the Merzouga desert.
Reaching Merzouga in the afternoon, you begin a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, stopping on a high dune to watch a breathtaking sunset over the golden sand. You then continue by camel to the camp, where you’re welcomed with a cup of tea. After a Moroccan dinner, you can sit around a campfire with Berber hosts who play drums and share stories under the starry sky.

We highly recommend waking early to watch the sunrise from the nearest high dune. After a delicious breakfast, you return to Merzouga town by camel or by 4×4, then head back to Marrakech by a different route along the Draa River, Morocco’s longest at 1,100 kilometres.
Feel free to ask your driver to stop whenever you like. You stop for lunch in Ouarzazate and drive to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains, finishing with a drop-off at your accommodation.
